Historic Banners

Samphire Quilters have made two historic quilts for the Borough Council of King's Lynn. They can be seen hanging in the Gaol House, Saturday Market Place, King's Lynn, PE30 5DQ

'The Vancouver Quilt 2000' was made by members of Samphire Quilters as a Millenium Gift to the town to commemorate the life of its most famous son, Captain George Vancouver, who was born there in 1757. The quilt depicts his early years through to his voyages and discoveries.

'The 800 Quilt' was commissioned by the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk and sponsored by the M. Audrey Stratford Memorial Trust. It was made by members of Samphire Quilters to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the granting of a Royal Charter by King John to King's Lynn. The panel represents the history and folklore of King's Lynn over the 800 years.
